Privacy policy

Short version: we count how many people read which pages. There are no accounts and no forms, and nothing is sold. Google's advertising signals are on by default, which California law counts as sharing, and you can switch them off in your privacy choices below.

What we collect

The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages get read. It sets cookies for that purpose and records the usual aggregate signals: pages viewed, approximate location by country and region, device type, and how you arrived. We do not ask for your name, email, or anything else that identifies you, because there is nothing on this site to sign up for.

Google's advertising signals are on by default. In practice that means Google may use your visit to build a remarketing audience, so that if this site later runs ads you could be shown one. It does not mean we know who you are, and no information is sent to any advertiser by us. You can switch this off for good in your privacy choices below, and it is switched off automatically if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.

The pages also load web fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google's font servers see the request. Nothing else on the site is served by a third party.

Our host, Cloudflare, also records standard server logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security and delivery, under its own privacy terms.

What we never do

Your privacy choices

Leaving Google's advertising signals on is what California law calls sharing personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, even though no money changes hands and we send nothing to an advertiser ourselves. You can turn it off here. The choice takes effect immediately, is stored in this browser, and analytics counting continues either way.

Clearing this browser's storage clears the choice, so it would need setting again. Sending a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal from your browser has the same effect and does not depend on our storage at all.

California residents

Under the CCPA and CPRA you have the right to know what is collected, to request deletion, to correct it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. We do share it in the specific sense described above, and the control in your privacy choices is how you opt out — that link is the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" mechanism the statute asks for, and it is in the footer of every page. To exercise the other rights, write to us through the contact page. We will not discriminate against you for asking.

If this changes

Adding anything that collects information directly from you, such as a form, means saying so at the point of collection and updating this page before it goes live.

Audience

This site is directed at adults (18+) in the United States. We build no features that collect data from children.
